Movie makes Muskegon money
Over the past two years the film makers spent money with local lodging facilities, restaurants, transportation, gas, props and professional services. In addition to hiring local actors, boat drivers, production, assistants, editors, and stunt drivers, more than 200 background actors from Muskegon also participated in the shooting of the film.

The film project has helped create an established crew base that can make it easy for other productions to quickly set up in Muskegon. “The Muskegon Lakeshore area is the perfect place to shoot a movie and we have documented an excellent supply chain for future productions including our own,” said film producer and co-writer, Roger Rappaport. “We expect the success of the film to attract other producers to our area.”
Aside from the economic impact of shooting the film, new visitors are likely to come to the Muskegon Lakeshore after viewing. The film premieres this spring in more than 200 theaters across the country and showcases more than 50 locations in Muskegon County.
“Waterwalk unifies our story showing audiences unfamiliar with our area why they should put Muskegon on their future travel plans,” said Bob Lukens, Community Development Director for Muskegon County.
